The Grant District is located in the south-eastern part of South Australia, covering an area of 6,193 square kilometers. It is named after Sir James Grant, who was a prominent figure in the early colonial history of South Australia.
The district is bordered by Victoria to the east, the Southern Ocean to the south, the Wattle Range Council to the west, and the Naracoorte Lucindale Council to the north. It is mainly an agricultural region with a significant amount of livestock farming and crop production, including wheat, barley, and canola.
